Why Do Most Of Us Even Bother Voting In The Presidential Election?

Really, why bother given that:

  • At most, only nine states are really in play and that will be the only states that the campaigns will bother with.
  • The New York Times says that the campaigns are zeroing in on just 1.4 million voters (the amount of votes actually cast should be somewhere around 120 to 130 million).
  • On a recent appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, NBC news anchor Brian Williams stated that the network’s election experts believed that this national Presidential election would come down to just twelve counties.  Twelve!  In the whole freakin’ country!

Everyone can talk about “red” states and “blue” states all they want.  But the fact of the matter is that a state like California has millions of Romney/Republican supporters.  And a state like Texas has millions of Obama/Democrat supporters.  An election system where their votes don’t matter is seriously flawed in my opinion.
